Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal stressed that no attempt should be made to hide the Easter attack investigations under the carpet, as it has always been the case, for political gain or to create a deal culture.
He was speaking at a meeting with Parliamentarian Kavinda Jayawardena at the Archbishop’s official residence in Colombo today (03).
He had met the Archbishop to hand over an information report on the Batticaloa Campus owned by former Governor of the East, Mohamed Hezbollah.
Speaking further, the Archbishop said that the government and the President have given a firm promise that a fair inquiry will be held into the Easter attack and that they are still confident about it, but if that does not happen, other alternatives will have to be found.
If so, the responsibility will have to be handed over to other groups, he said.
Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal said he hoped the investigations by the Presidential Commission and the Criminal Investigation Department would be carried out in a proper manner by all other agencies.
