Former Minister Lakshman Kiriella says the government has not granted adequate attention to the warnings put forth in Parliament pertaining to the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Kiriella said, if the statement was considered seriously, the present crisis could have been mitigated better.
The Former Minister also added that the Opposition is willing to support the government in all efforts taken to combat the coronavirus.
He noted that the government reached a decision to close airports only on the 10th of March.
However former MP Kiriella stated that despite this delay in reaching the decision, the government took several commendable steps to prevent the spread of the virus.
While commending the country’s health workers and soldiers, Kiriella said medical professionals together with the tri-forces and the Police have joined hands to save the country from the present COVID-19 crisis.
