The Quarantine Director of the Ministry of Health Mahendra Arnold says more than 1,400 persons are presently housed at quarantine facilities in Batticaloa and Kandakadu.
Speaking to NewsRadio he said quarantine efforts are underway in a stringent manner adding that two persons at Kandakadu were identified to have contracted coronavirus as a result of the quarantine process.
He said measures were taken to prevent persons from certain countries entering Sri Lanka in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus further.
