Pay in installments if electricity bill is higher than in February – CEB

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has inquired into any possible issue with the electricity bills issued for the past few months. Issuing statement, Minister of Power and Energy Mahinda Amaraweera stated that the President made the inquiries at the Cabinet meeting held today (17). Minister Amaraweera has instructed the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to make the public must be made aware of the matter. Accordingly, the correct electricity bill would be the last bill issued to the consumer, stated the CEB. Additionally, the relevant bill would be issued based on the number of units used by the consumer, CEB adds. CEB Chairman Vijitha Herath said that if a consumer has received a bill higher than the bill for the month of February, the consumer may pay the bill in installments. Further, the consumer will not be subjected to power cuts even if the bill is being paid through installments, he added.
